Stéphanie Ruth is an English–French independent curator and creative consultant, raised in London and New York City, and now based in Frankfurt am Main.
Her work spans modern and contemporary art and design, with a particular attention to how objects, materials, light, and spatial arrangements shape lived experience. Across exhibitions and private commissions, she works with art, furniture, and lighting as elements of an integrated environment rather than isolated works.
In 2022, she founded PARLOUR, a nomadic modern, contemporary and decorative art gallery that stages exhibitions within private homes and architecturally distinctive settings. PARLOUR projects are developed with a strong spatial and material logic, bringing together art, design, sound, and atmosphere within domestic contexts. Recent exhibitions have been recognised internationally, including coverage in The World of Interiors.
She has been elected co-chair of the Friends of Städelschule and Portikus e.V., supporting both Städelschule, one of Europe’s leading art academies, and Portikus, its internationally recognised exhibition institution.
Across commissioned projects and exhibitions developed for PARLOUR, Stéphanie’s work focuses on how people inhabit space and relate to objects within it. Her exhibitions are conceived as environments, bringing together art, furniture, lighting, and architecture as a coherent whole rather than as discrete elements.
Alongside her gallery practice, Stéphanie advises private collectors on building collections and consults on the placement of artworks within lived spaces, working closely with clients to develop long-term, considered relationships between objects, interiors, and daily life.
She notes, “The best way to create an art collection is by staying true to your interests, by identifying the themes, positions, and sensibilities one is personally drawn to, and remaining attentive to them over time.” (House & Garden, July 2023)
Stéphanie holds a master’s degree in the history of art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Her dissertation, Performing Utopias: The Activation of Space and the Spatialisation of Man in Oskar Schlemmer’s Theatre (2016, distinction), examined the Bauhaus stage as a site of human transformation, with a focus on costume, space, and the relationship between bodies and architecture.
Her work reflects two decades of sustained engagement with modern and contemporary art, shaped by long-term collaborations with artists, designers, collectors, and institutions across Europe and the United States.

Son travail se situe à l’intersection de l’art moderne et contemporain et du design, avec une attention particulière portée aux objets, aux matériaux, à la lumière et aux dispositifs spatiaux. À travers des expositions et des commandes privées, elle aborde l’art, le mobilier et l’éclairage comme les composantes d’un environnement cohérent, pensé dans sa globalité.
En 2022, elle fonde PARLOUR, une galerie nomade dédiée à l’art moderne, contemporain et aux arts décoratifs, qui conçoit des expositions dans des maisons privées et des lieux à forte identité architecturale. Les projets de PARLOUR reposent sur une logique spatiale et matérielle affirmée, réunissant art, design, son et atmosphère dans des contextes domestiques. Les expositions récentes ont bénéficié d’une reconnaissance internationale, notamment dans The World of Interiors.

Parallèlement à son activité de galerie, Stéphanie conseille des collectionneurs dans la constitution de leurs collections et intervient sur l’intégration des œuvres dans des espaces de vie, en développant avec ses clients des relations durables et réfléchies entre objets, intérieurs et usages quotidiens.

« La meilleure façon de constituer une collection d’art est de rester fidèle à ses intérêts, d’identifier les thèmes, les positions et les sensibilités vers lesquels on est personnellement attiré, et de rester attentif à leur évolution dans le temps. »
